Marek Cecula is now curating a major exhibition tilted “Object Factory - The Art of Industrial Ceramics”.
The exhibition is scheduled to open in May 2008 in the newly completed 350sq.m luminous exhibition space of the Gardiner Museum in the center of Toronto.
The intention is to create a landmark exhibition presenting the most progressive designs coming from and related to ceramic industry. This would be the first major survey of this kind where industrial sector is represented parallel with independent ceramic studios, artists and free-lanced designers.
The exhibit will simultaneously show the progression of the ceramic industry in the milieu of phenomenal design expansion and diverse interpretation of industrial products and processes.

Commission: Urban Art Project for city of Porsgrunn, Norway. May, 2007

Along the sidewalk of Storgata Street in Porsgrunn, I created 6 stainless steel stations with decorated porcelain cylinders. Those cylinders rotate, if turned by hand, showing various sections of the images, and form random compositions.
This public artwork is not a typical monument or sculpture but rather interactive street element (a stand) integrated with existing street fixtures and trees.
It is an urban design of social dimension forming direct link between people, art and the environment, a record of History, Culture and Tradition.
